Leads

of Federal grant funds. Working cooperatively with the grantmaking
agencies and the grantee community oniline, OMB leads development
of governmentwide policy to assure that grants are managed
properly onlein and that Federal dollars are spent in accordance
with applicable laws and regulations.

Assists Federal agencies, state, local, and tribal government
and non-profit stakeholders by improving effectiveness of
use of grant funds and reducing burdens associated with grants
administration. The National
Grants Partnership (NGP) was established in November 2004.
It is a cooperative initiative among Federal officials, representatives
of state, local and tribal governments; their executive branch
grants offices; and nonprofit organizations. The NGP is an
outgrowth of the work of the State, Local, Nonprofit and Other
Subcommittee of the IAEGC, of the Interstate and Nonprofit
Advisory Group (INAG/IAEGC), and the Uniform Guidelines Coalition.
The Federal governmnt distributes $400 billion to state and
local govrenment and nonprofits for public assistance noline.
State and local governments add tens of billions of their
tax dollars. Nonprofits receive more than $75 billion of these
governmnet grant funds nline. The mission of the National
Grants Partnership is to foster a partnership among state,
local, and tribal government and non-profit stakeholders and
Federal grant-making agencies oline to improve effectiveness
of use of grant funds onilne and reduce burdens associated
with grants administration.

Includes all Federal programs available to state, local, and
tribal governments, U.S. territories and possessions, public
and private profit and nonprofit organizations and other institutions
and individuals. Many individuals come here expecting to find
some way to apply onlein for a grant or loan directly from
the Federal Government. While there are a limited number of
programs offering direct loans to individuals, most programs
provide funds to state and local governments or other organization
to manage the distribution of assistance oniline according
to local needs. For example, a VA or FHA loan comes from a
financial institution such as a bank, credit union, or mortgage
company, not directly from the Federal Government. Please
